Togetherness
Today’s hike up Koko Head presented us with a vertical challenge. Hikes like these you do only with someone you trust completely. The ridges of Koko Head demanded hiking skill, climbing sense, and real composure. Once committed, there is no going back. You’re on it to finish it, one way or another. Sound Scary, I know. And let me add: nothing beats hitting the trail with a hiking partner who’s willing to problem-solve with you in real time — for realsies. So there we were, two women on a mountain, teaming up against darkness, weather, sweat, peril, and gravity. The trail pitched toward vertical, but we moved together — pulling each other over ledges, passing backpacks, leapfrogging our way up the spine of the volcano. When we finally topped out, we made coffee and tea, sat in the clouds, and embraced our shared victory, letting doubts fall away while respect and confidence tagged along. There’s nothing quite like solving life’s trials together. Yeah, okay then — come with me now.
